About Christopher Sokn

During my first semester at Bradley University, I had to take an elective course as part of the Bradley Honors Program. These were not your traditional college courses, including classes like "Psychology of Dreaming" and the one I ultimately took,"Science Fiction as Social Science." Whatever bad science fiction I wrote in that class somehow convinced the professor, Dr. Craig Curtis, that I would make a good litigator, and he successfully persuaded me to join the Bradley University Mock Trial Team, which he coached. That bad science fiction story as a college freshman led me to years on the Bradley University Mock Trial Team, the University of Illinois College of Law Trial Team, and now approaching two decades of litigation and legal writing. I am a litigation attorney and partner at Kingery Durree Wakeman & O'Donnell, Assoc. in Peoria, Illinois, representing individuals, businesses, and municipalities in the state and federal trial and appellate courts of Illinois. I represent plaintiffs and defendants in a broad range of litigated disputes, including personal injury and wrongful death, civil rights, employment claims, insurance coverage and bad faith disputes, professional malpractice, contract disputes, shareholder derivative claims, closely held corporation disputes, will and trust contents, and other litigated matters. I am particularly interested in appellate practice, having handled numerous appeals throughout the Seventh Circuit, the Illinois Supreme Court, and the Illinois Appellate Court. I was born, raised, and educated here in Central Illinois, where I now work, live, and raise my two children with my wife in Washington, Illinois.
