About Christopher Sous

Christopher Sous studied mechanical engineering at the RWTH Aachen University and focused on mechanics and correlated technology trends. He received his bachelor (2010) and master (2012) degrees with a focus on development and design with an emphasis on tribological aspects. His interest in the relationships between contact conditions in machine elements and their lifetime and design led to a PhD thesis at the Institute of Machine Elements and Systems Engineering at RWTH Aachen University (2018). His work focused on the fatigue behaviour of plain bearings, local stress calculation and validation of fatigue strength predictions based on experimental investigations. After his appointment as head of the Plain Bearings Research Group in the Tribology Division (2014), he became head of the newly founded Bearing Technology Divsion (2018) with the research groups for plain bearings, rolling bearings and freewheels. He teaches in bachelor courses (machine design) and master courses (tribology).
