I am a passionate and dedicated Bachelor of Architecture student at the University of Miami, recently completing a semester abroad in Rome. With a GPA of 3.8, I have consistently demonstrated academic excellence. My journey into architecture began in high school with a drafting class, igniting a lifelong passion for the field. Growing up in Richmond, Virginia, in a predominantly black community, I was exposed to a diverse tapestry of stories and experiences that profoundly shaped my understanding of how the built environment impacts communities. This upbringing instilled a profound responsibility to advocate for fair access to quality buildings and sustainable design practices. My commitment to sustainable and community-centered design is unwavering. This is evident in my involvement in organizations such as AIAS, where I served as Chapter Vice President and National Governance Committee Member, and NOMAS, where I was Chapter Treasurer. These experiences have informed my understanding of the industry and allowed me to connect with many like-minded professionals. My portfolio is a testament to my dedication to community empowerment, resilience, and cultural relevance. I prioritize engagement and collaboration at the community level, incorporating cultural sensitivity and promoting equity and inclusivity. Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have held various internship positions at ZGF, Torti Gallas + Partners, Dover, Kohl & Partners Town Planning, and Cornerstone Architecture and Interior. At these firms, I worked on comprehensive planning proposals and architectural projects at different design phases, including residential, commercial, institutional, urban design, mixed-use housing, restaurant design, and senior care facilities. I am eager to gain hands-on experience in real-world sustainable and community-focused design projects. I look forward to expanding my technical skills, deepening my understanding of project management processes, and learning from industry experts. With aspirations to become a licensed architect and urban planner, I am committed to harnessing the power of architecture for the greater good. I envision a future where I can advocate for fair and compassionate solutions in affordable housing, address homelessness and displacement, and promote professional diversity through mentorship and inclusive design strategies.
