About Christopher Stucky

Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Stucky currently serves as the Perioperative Consultant (66E) to the Army Surgeon General, Army Director of the TriService Nursing Research Program (TSNRP) Biobehavioral Research Interest Group (BHRIG), and Chief of Research at the Center for Nursing Science and Clinical Inquiry (CNSCI), Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany. He has 30 years of US Army active duty service and holds board certifications in perioperative nursing (CNOR), Certified Ambulatory Surgery Nurse (CNAMB), Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM), nursing informatics (RN-BC), and as a nurse executive (NEA-BC). He completed his PhD in Nursing at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) and his undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado. LTC Stucky deployed twice to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2004 to 2005) and Operation New Dawn (2010-2011). The TSNRP, the Army Nurse Corps Association (ANCA), and Jonas Philanthropies have provided funding for his research through grant awards. LTC Stucky has attained full professional status and national prominence as a perioperative nursing expert by being awarded the AMEDD 9A Designator and induction into the Order of Military Medical Merit (O2M3). His long-term goal is to develop a comprehensive research program to identify perioperative communication weaknesses, with the aim of increasing healthcare quality and safety. His research interests include network analysis, informatics, systems science, communication, and surgical team performance.
