About Christopher Tan

I have been working in the SAP field since 2007 in the SAP BASIS field. In my years of experience, I have had experiences with managing clients from Singapore, Malaysia and Australia for both support work and project work. Through the years I have has many opportunities and hands on experience of different operating systems such as Linux, AIX, Windows and UNIX and databases such as MSSQL, Oracle, DB2 and HANA. I very much enjoy learning new technology pertaining to SAP, and other suites that interface with it. As a consultant, I have performed upgrades, migrations and even spearheaded a new initiative in the company profile by starting up a sub team within BASIS consultants to both explore and implement Solution Manager components, such as System monitoring, Change Request Management, Application Incident Management and Custom Code Management. Within my support projects, I was in charge of several clients and touching base with them, ensuring every ticket was updated on time, every escalation was managed appropriately and being proactive to ensure that they were well informed of changes, risks and mitigations in place. I have always enjoyed working in projects as well, from planning to realisation and go live, seeing how our effort becomes a great success for the company brings me a great deal of joy. I believe in always raising up shortcomings that I for see, and strive to give solutions or mitigations I can think of. As a lead now within NUS, I manage vendors, capacity planning, DR plans, SOPs, audits, patching, project works, feasibility studies across different towers and technologies, looking out for the best way to further improve, secure and strengthen systems under my care. I do enjoy working in teams, as I always find that other point of views are very valuable and can uncover gaps that may not have been spotted if working in silo.
