Background
About Christopher Tarnay
With decades of experience building and developing transformational integrated healthcare models within urogynecology and women’s reproductive health, I drive support for service expansion, implement strategic and operational initiatives within medical administration, and lead clinical operations for outstanding patient care. In my career, I have established groundbreaking collaborative urogynecological programs at top healthcare institutions, served in hospital medical staff leadership roles, as well as served as president for the nonprofit organization Medicine for Humanity. As the Division Chief for Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at UCLA, I provide strategic oversight in various leadership roles, guide hospital administration, and advance world-class medical education and research. Selected career accomplishments include-Originating, building, and co-directing the first subspecialty urogynecology integrated clinic for women’s pelvic health at UCLA, expanding the thriving program to a total of 4 locations across Southern California. I also established the first urogynecology divisions at Olive View Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente-Serving as chief of staff of Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, providing strategic oversight of healthcare delivery operations, quality of care, and safety measures-Being appointed to the American Urogynecologic Society Board of Directors as chairman to establish national guidelines for best practices, evaluate technology advancements, and set the standard for quality assurance within female reproductive health therapies-Organizing a sustainable surgical model and capacity building program while facilitating life-changing pelvic-floor and obstetric fistula surgeries as president of the nonprofit organization Medicine for Humanity, in support of healthcare for vulnerable populations in East Africa. My greatest success has been in my ability to lead medical divisions and clinical operations with a mission-driven and collaborative spirit, leveraging relationships with key stakeholders and healthcare leadership and inspiring staff, trainees, and students to advance compassionate and quality care for women’s health. I am always looking to grow my professional network. If you would like to connect, please contact me at ctarnaymd@gmail.com.
