About Christopher Toh

I completed my Doctorate - Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) with the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) as the Pioneer batch under the supervision of Prof Chang Young-Ho. I was from the first intake of January 2019. I successfully defended my PhD dissertation and I passed my PhD Viva Voce (Oral Defence) on 22 November 2021, Monday at 12 PM, Singapore time. Getting my Doctorate at the age of 50 is an extremely significant and meaningful milestone of my academic pursuit and my journey in life. It proves one thing - where there’s a will, there’s a way. Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It’s the courage to continue that counts, a direct quote from Winston Churchill. By the Grace of Our Almighty Lord God and His Blessings, I’ve achieved my Doctorate, Amen! Together with my grit and perseverance, I’ve succeeded as well. Apart from my full-time job at CME Group, I also sit on the Murdoch University’s Singapore Academic Board representing the interests of Post Graduate Students enrolled in the Master’s Programmes at Murdoch University. In addition, I have an MBA from Murdoch University and a Bachelor of Business from RMIT University. I'm also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and I graduated from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the United Kingdom. I passed all 3 levels of the ACCA examinations, and completed the entire ACCA course within a record 2 years from - 2001. ACCA examinations are recognized as one of the toughest to overcome. My corporate experiences focus around the provision of energy trading risk management system support to the Front, Middle and Back office functions in the Oil & Gas & Metals industry. I have indepth knowledge of Physical Oil Operations (i.e. NOR, BL 2-1-2, 3-0-2, Load/Discharge Ports, Physical Oil Scheduling, Shipping, Inspection & Inventory Storage), Risk Management concepts (Monte Carlo VaR), oil trading products (vanilla and exotics), exchange traded & OTC, and I have a good grasp of oil knowledge (contango, backwardation, trading methods using straddle, collars etc, crack spreads, conversion factors for crude & product oil from BBL to MT etc.). I am well versed in the following ETRM systems: A) Integrated Commodity Trading System (ICTS) provided by Amphora Inc - B) Commodity XL/Management Dashboard provided by Triple Point Technology Inc- C) OpenLink Endur - D) Allegro’s ETRM system - E) Murex Limits Controller (MLC), a credit tracking system provided by Murex -
