I'm a Partner in Citrin Cooperman's State & Local Tax practice. I specialize in transaction tax consulting including sales & use tax; personal property tax; Virginia Business, Professional, Occupational License (BPOL); gross receipts tax; and federal excise tax. I have a broad knowledge of state & local taxation which was gained from multi-state experience in a variety of industries including manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, telecommunications, finance, software, construction, defense, service and non-profit. Services that I offer to my clients include reverse audits, audit defense, voluntary disclosure agreements, nexus surveys, compliance reviews, effective rate agreements and taxability matrices. Major accomplishments include negotiating a multi-million dollar assessment reduction, obtaining millions of dollars in multi-state refunds and assisting in the implementation of an automated tax solution for a Fortune 500 company. I'm well versed in the utilization of valid statistical sampling techniques in the context of sales & use tax audits and refund claims. I'm also a frequent lecturer on various sales & use tax topics. My prior public accounting experience which includes financial statement auditing as well as corporate and personal income tax preparation uniquely enables me to advise my clients on a broad spectrum of business issues relating to changes in their state & local tax policies and procedures.
