About Christos Stefanakos

Member of the Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences (NTVA). Extensive experience (more than 30 years) in stochastic modelling and analysis of multivariate data of metocean parameters. Currently works as Senior Research Scientist in SlNTEF Ocean, Marine Modelling and Analysis group. Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering with focus in stochastic modelling of time series of marine environmental data. Author/co-author of 55 peer reviewed papers, 2 books, and 14 abstract reviewed presentations. Extensive experience with European research projects, among which projects concerning wind and wave atlases, wave energy atlas, hydrodynamic/hydroacoustic atlas, stochastic modelling for the analysis of metocean data. Member of the scientific committee of Symposium 2: “Structures, Safety and Reliability” of the International Conference on Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering (OMAE Conference) for nine years (2005-2013). Member of the Editorial board of: a) Journal of Marine Science and Engineering (JMSE) since 2020, b) Frontiers in Energy Research since 2023. Main scientific interests:(i) Problem Solving: a) statistical analysis, modeling and simulation of multivariate time series, b) nonstationary modeling of marine/maritime parameters, c) multivariate probability densities with given marginals, d) nonstationary extreme-value analysis,(ii) Design and development of applications: a) Application-driven sophisticated software, b) Maritime/marine related enhanced databases Extensive project management skills, ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams and communicate effectively across cultures. Proven record in product Analytical Skills from concept to market, customer facing. Highly collaborative team player who takes initiative when needed to deliver outstanding results to customers.
