About Christy Evers

I am a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas, where I teach graduate nursing for advanced practice and leadership. Along with this full-time employment teaching in both midwifery and advanced practice nursing classes, I also practice full-scope midwifery in the Kansas City area. I have earned certifications in electronic fetal monitoring and inpatient obstetrics, having worked as an RN in labor and delivery for more than 10 years before becoming a nurse-midwife. I not only hold these clinical certifications, but I am also a Certified Nurse Educator and have been recognized as the 2022 American College of Nurse-Midwives Outstanding Preceptor for the University of Kansas School of Nursing (KUSON). I am active as a leader in my community and hold active memberships with the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, & Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN); Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society; the Kansas Advanced Practice Nurses Association (KAPN); the American College of Nurse-Midwives-Kansas Affiliate (ACNM); and the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ACOG). I am the president-elect for the Kansas affiliate of ACNM and when I was a student was the student representative to the board of ACNM. As midwifery faculty at the University of Kansas School of Nursing, I collaborate with fellow Certified Nurse-Midwives, other advanced practice nurses, and interprofessional colleagues to deliver an evidence-based, comprehensive, and up-to-date nurse-midwifery education to our learners. Our curriculum provides a strong didactic foundation on which our clinical practice education is able to thrive. I not only educate students in the classroom, simulation lab, and procedural training, but I welcome them into my clinical practice site as a preceptor.
