About Christy Haeuptle

My current position is Director of Curriculum Development at IBMC College, a private career college in Northern Colorado. Along with my team, we develop the curriculum for all college programs. As a professor since 2009, I also teach communications courses online for Folsom Lake College in Northern California. My goal is to use the knowledge and experience I have gained through curriculum development and teaching to bring greater educational equality to the adult learners in the classroom. Before entering professional education I wrote and edited for newspapers, in-house marketing departments, non-profits, and magazines with an international readership. As a newspaper editor I developed and researched topic ideas before writing articles that appeared in a variety of newspapers throughout a large metropolitan area. As a team member of a marketing department and manager of a non-profit program, I wrote a variety of materials from pamphlets and brochures to television commercials. As writer and editor of magazines for the computer industry I managed and prepared material for print, the Web, and other forms of electronic distribution. My job provides a variety of enjoyable activities and numerous rewards. Planning courses and deciding what material to spotlight gives me a chance to blend my organization skills and creativity. I love to make learning interactive and skill driven! Rewards come both in seeing students succeed and the acknowledgement of my role in that student success. My Master of Arts degree from the University of Arizona is in Media Arts so it explores and blends the creative, critical analysis, and the theoretical perspectives of communication studies. I enjoy discerning trends in education and exploring advancements in learning by engaging in numerous trainings and webinars. My Bachelor of Science degree in Film and Television Production is from Montana State University I have experience in electronic production and non-liner editing. I am always interested in hearing from former colleagues and fellow volunteers, as well as people or organizations who share my passions. Please contact me if you’d like to connect.
