About Chryssa Varna

I am fascinated by movement and things in motion. I have trained as an architect, but I constantly move between the areas of architecture, design technology, researching and coding. I have worked as an architect, computational design and BIM specialist with several renowned art and architectural practices such as artist trio Troika (London), Cinimod Studio (London) and Grimshaw Architects(London and New York); I have collaborated with architects, engineers, artists, designers, fabricators, and commercial clients in projects ranging from master planning and big infrastructure and architectural projects to kinetic installations and AR & VR experiences for artworks exhibited worldwide (coordination of computational design efforts, BIM implementation, interoperability workflows, complex geometry implementation, parametric tools, environmental analysis, GIS data mining etc)I am also a former graduate, part-time critic and consultant of Interactive Architecture Lab (London) at the Bartlett School of Architecture, where I am experimenting and pursuing a research agenda based on generative processes inspired from dance, choreography and movement. My work has been published in conferences, including Fascinate 2013 (Falmouth, UK), and This Happened London at the V&A museum.
