Background

About Chuck Beck

As program coordinator I am responsible for the administration and performance of 4 AAS degree programs and the related 15 college-certificates. The programs are Process Technology (plant operations technology), Industrial Maintenance- Mechanical and Industrial Maintenance-Electrical and Wind Energry Technology. The programs prepare students for entry level positions in the energy, chemical, food/beverage, water processing industries and industrial wind energy facilities. I am responsible of academic content, instructor selection and performance, hands-on learning equipment selection and use, marketing of the program (middle schools, High Schools, career fairs etc) and industry relations and the securing of funding. I interface with several levels of government systems from public schools to Department of Labor agencies and administrators (State and Fed). I recently attended the White House Summit on Community Colleges as one of two invited instructors from across the country. The balance of attendees were industry and college related executives. Dr Jill Biden (the 2nd Lady) organized and sponsored the October 5th event. Bottom line is a real concern about the quantity and Quality of the up coming workforce in all sectors, but particularly in the technical and energy areas.
