Background
About Chuck Raggio
I have extensive experience in the orthopedic device industry. Holder of a patent on a bone in-growth surface material and designer of numerous standard product line and custom hip, knee and shoulder implants. Extensive experience as an award winning sales representative, product manager and branch manager has given me a complete understanding of the orthopedic device industry. During my tenure as Director of Custom Products at Techmedica, my team and I developed the first Tri-Flange acetabular implants,"Oblong" acetabular components, and patient-specific implants derived from CT data. Prior to Techmedica and while at Hexcel Medical of Dublin, Ca, I was Product Manager for the "Anitomic Total Hip Stem", the first forged Titanium alloy hip stem in the US. I particularly enjoy failure analysis and product investigation of metal components with a particular expertise in orthopedic implants. I am a current licensed Metallurgical Engineer in the State of California with a professional beginning in heavy construction, materials consulting, manufacturing and both non-destructive and destructive testing. I am knowledgeable with all manufacturing processes of orthopedic implants including forging, casting and additive manufacturing. My clients are in the legal, orthopedic, refinery/chemical, transportation and heavy construction industries. I also guest lecture at my Alma Mater, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, in the Bioengineering Department. My enthusiasm for all things mechanical, includes restoration and racing of vintage formula race cars, and is balanced by an equal enthusiasm for music,(jazz saxophone), and tennis.
