About Chuma Mbambo

I am an Urban Planner focusing on Development Planning and Urban/City Research. I have dedicated my career efforts to providing strategic support to South African metropolitan municipalities, specializing in the development of spatial plans and conducting research on urban economics and smart cities. My project engagements have encompassed a broad spectrum, ranging from facilitating land use management applications to contributing to the formulation of impactful strategies and policies. Additionally, I have conducted comprehensive evaluations, showcasing my proficiency in delivering diverse town planning solutions. I bring a strong academic foundation to all my work, with a Master's Degree in Urban Management and Development, specializing in Infrastructure and Green and Smart Cities. I am therefore interested in finding various sustainable solutions for bringing about urban equality and building more resilient societies and living environments. My technical skills include expertise in software tools such as Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, GIS, and STATA. Motivated by a commitment to positive societal transformation, I firmly believe that the youth play a pivotal role in reshaping South African Human Settlements, particularly in historically disadvantaged black township areas. To contribute to this discourse, I have initiated Urban Abstracts, a blog platform providing a space for young planners to exchange insights and innovative ideas on fostering a more equitable, inclusive, and secure South Africa for all its residents.
