About Cian Thomas

As a Medical Laboratory Scientist with Pathology Queensland I perform molecular germline genetic testing for their genomics department. My role involves performing and analysing Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) through variant curation and completing pre analytical tasks. I am also one of the laboratories first prenatal molecular coordinators. My role manages the coordination of all molecular prenatal referrals to ensure they are appropriately triaged and given the highest standard of follow up care. I am a graduate of the Master of Genetic Counselling program with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). These experiences complement eachother by allowing me to utilise my genetic theoretical knowledge in a clinical setting and builds my understanding of variant analysis and curation amongst patients of public health.
