About Ciara Avelar

My passion for community service and legal studies brought me to the School of Arts and Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis where I am working on my BA in English Literature with a concentration in creative writing and a BA in Global Studies with a concentration in international affairs. When I was younger, I became interested in law and Latine studies, I knew that I wanted to support my community. Coming from a low income Puerto Rican community in New York City, I knew that I wanted my profession to align with my passions. As an SEO scholar, I had the opportunity to become an SEO EDGE participant through which I have gained networking opportunities and career building skills in the finance and law industries. The skills that I have obtained will allow me to carry them over throughout not only my time obtaining my undergraduate degree but also throughout my professional journey. Currently, I’m looking for community service programs or volunteer opportunities that will put my passions into practice. Let’s connect!
