About Ciara Taylor

I am a computer science student at the University of Illinois Chicago, expected to graduate December 2024. I am passionate about front-end development and user interface design, as well as cybersecurity and math. I have experience in multiple programming languages, such as C++, C, Python, and JavaScript, and I am currently exploring HTML, CSS, and SQL. As the co-mentorship chair of Women in Computer Science at UIC, I facilitate and support the mentorship program that connects female and nonbinary CS students with industry professionals and peers. I also helped coordinate the outreach efforts for SparkHacks, an in-person 24 hour hackathon at UIC. Additionally, I was a sprintern for Relativity, a software company in Chicago that provides end-to-end legal software solutions. I also served as a teaching assistant for Break Through Tech Chicago, an initiative to help propel women and nonbinary people into the computer and data science industry. Before pursuing my CS degree, I have been working as a full-time payroll processor and insurance producer for a small LLC called ULI for several years. I have obtained my Illinois Casualty License and received multiple accolades for my performance and customer service. I enjoy working with numbers and data, and I am always eager to learn new skills and technologies.
