When my son was younger, he was asked at school “What does your Daddy do?” he replied, “He makes money for old people”. He nailed it - but let me explain further. I lead a team, within a large industry superannuation fund, that is accountable for ensuring all investment options remain invested according to their strategies. Over the last few years, I have: • Been part of a leadership team that has overseen the development of internalising investment strategies (growing from 0% managed internally to almost 40% of FuM). This involved growing the team from 20 to >100 people and ensuring they have the support required to execute the strategies. • Led projects to implement new tools and technology including: a multi asset class risk system, a performance attribution system, an investment data management platform, and a system for rebalancing. • Enhanced risk frameworks for model risk, counterparty risk, and liquidity risk to support a Total Portfolio Approach. • Introduced Power BI technology to enhance the automation and distribution of investment data and analysis.
