About Cillian Murphy

Graduated with an MSc in Space Science & Technology in December 2016. I also hold a BSc in Physics with Astronomy and Space Science. I grew up bilingual in Mexico speaking English and Spanish, today I also speak Irish and German. I have traveled a lot, as a child, and as an adult. I have been a committee member for several sports and social initiative organisations at university and in the workplace with focuses ranging from martial arts to basketball to green environmental policy promotion. Education is a highly important field to me and I am always interested in being involved in outreach programmes. Additionally the environment is a growing concern for me which I am increasingly conscious of in my own life but hope to address more in my work in the future. My greatest interest is planetary systems, I wish to study terrestrial environments in our solar system as well as exoplanets. I hope to do a PhD in this area of research and even doing additional Masters courses in technical skills such as programming, automation, robotics, and engineering, as well as advanced courses in meteorology, geology, geography and anything else which will advance my capacity to pursue my field of interest. I aim to continue my career in the space industry, ideally working with ESA. My career ambitions include; continuing to with in mission control for space exploration, working in astronomical research, and becoming an ESA astronaut. I hope to use my experience and network in the space sector to promote more growth in the Irish sector and even to found my own company.
