About Cindy Kaplan

My career has been defined by my ability to tell stories. As co-founder of Hollywood Resumes, a resume writing and career services business dedicated to job seekers in the entertainment industry, I help clients tell their professional stories to potential employers, and through coaching, refine the stories they tell themselves about their professional goals. I'm also a writer, and work in a variety of media, including essays, memoir, documentaries, comedy, and screenwriting. I've worked in the entertainment industry for 15+ years across marketing, production, and development, and I apply what I learned from those areas to service Hollywood Resumes's clientele as they seek jobs across the media industry. I'm proud of my diverse skillset, which I gained from my experience wearing many hats at multiple start-ups. I'm able to be an effective coach and resume writer because I often have a first-hand understanding of many of my clients' roles. I also have a strong knowledge of the content landscape; I started my career managing a film development database, and subsequently managed a product placement opportunity database and screened approximately 250 films and TV/streaming series for proof of activations. I'm driven by a desire to create space for everyone's voices to be heard. In my current role as the Director of the JITC Hollywood Bureau, I work with creatives and studios to advance authentic portrayals of Jews on screen and ensure that Jewish creatives are uplifted and supported to share their stories with pride and authenticity. My writing often focuses on themes of advocacy and inclusion, and I regularly direct and produce short documentaries for NewGround: A Muslim-Jewish Partnership for Change to showcase the organization's interfaith work. I also completed the organization's Change-Maker Fellowship and Community of Practice Facilitation Training, where I learned conflict resolution and deep listening skills. My work life has a variety of touch points and I love making connections across any and all of them!
