About Cindy Oshea

Passionate and innovative, outcomes driven professional with over 30 years experience in senior roles in the not for profit and education sectors. An articulate communicator, with proven ability to manage and lead internal and external stakeholders, while maintaining excellent relationships with client groups, colleagues and wider networks. My ongoing role as lecturer in the School of Applied Social Studies in UCC, sees me contributing to and teaching on a number of programme's in the school and holding responsibility for Practice Development in Youth and Community work and as acting Course Director for the BYCW program. I am one of two HEI representative's on NSETS and am a member of a number of College Committees. I am currently undertaking a PhD on Peer Support in custodial settings. With over 30 years experience in the Voluntary sector as Practitioner, facilitator, trustee and researcher, I currently work in the Operations team of Samaritans UK and Ireland as one of four Directors of Branch Operations and have responsibility for Wales, West Midlands, North West and South West Regions. I am a listening volunteer and work as Branch Prison Support Officer in Cork Samaritans and am Chair of Cloyne Diocesan Youth Service. I have worked as an External Supervisor for a number of Youth Organisations and as a National Peer Assessor for Youth Work Ireland. I have significant experience in Charity Governance and have been on the boards of GSBAA, AVP, Cork Volunteer Centre, Ogra Chorcai, Cork Aids Alliance, Cork Heart Foundation, Youth Work Ireland and Irish Girl Guides.
