About Cindy Perez

Currently, I work at Kaiser Permanente as an Anesthesia Technologist. This position encompasses working under the supervision of the Anesthesiologist, by assisting in setting up medications, equipment, and providing additional care for a variety of patients including children of different ages. Many children come to the hospital with many fears, including separation from their loved ones and not understanding what will be done to them for their procedure. In order to make it a positive experience for children and their families, I spend time getting to know them beforehand by asking children questions about their favorite things to develop a sense of trust. In addition to that, I show them pictures of what they will expect to see in the Operating Room to discuss any questions or concerns they may have. Not only do I have hospital experience, but I have also worked as a Substitute Preschool Teacher at La Casa de San Gabriel Community Center, a non-profit organization. During my teaching experience with Preschool age children (3-4), I was able to develop the first after-school (S.T.E.M.) program for 12 children which entailed science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This program enabled children to be interested and active in their learning experience. I consider my work experiences contributes to the skills I need to advance in my career goal as a Child Life Specialist.
