About Cindy Rivera

For over 13 years, I have been a Social Insurance Specialist at the Social Security Administration (SSA), where I assist individuals in establishing entitlement to benefits under various programs. I provide service via face-to-face interviews or by telephone, and obtain, clarify, and verify information to analyze claims and make decisions. I also handle adjustments, corrections, non-receipts, and critical payments of benefits, as well as prevent fraud, waste, and abuse of SSA programs. My career has always involved service to the public of all socio-economic backgrounds. Before joining SSA, I worked for the New York Public Library for nearly a decade, where I provided customer service, researched books and materials, and processed and catalogued research materials for different departments. I have a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Forensic Psychology. I am bilingual in English and Spanish, and proficient in Microsoft Office. I love to learn new things and I am always reading, researching, and discovering. I am looking to possibly work in non-profit, community-focused endeavors that align with my passion and expertise.
