Dr. CJ Helm is a clinically trained licensed psychologist with over 10 years of experience in educational, correctional, and business settings. Credentialed by the Association of State & Provincial Psychology Boards for psychology services, Dr. Helm has a diverse background in higher education, corporate America, and the Department of Justice. With expertise in executive coaching, workforce development, change management, and psychotherapy, Dr. Helm has created regent-approved college courses and coached leaders to greatness. Passionate about the power of education, he founded The Helm Academy, focusing on broadening cultural perspectives and developing leadership skills among educators, c-suite leaders, and small business owners to positively impact the workforce and desired outcomes. Prior to his global health career, Dr. Helm spent a decade as a law enforcement officer, working with adjudicated youth, incarcerated adults, and personnel at state and federal facilities. He has trained fellow officers on trauma-informed contact and partnered with facilities to enhance their understanding of working with diverse incarcerated populations, prioritizing safety and security for personnel and the workplace. Recognized for his contributions, Dr. Helm has received prestigious awards, including the Center for Global Health's Director's Excellence in Human Capital Management and Workforce Award, Matthew Stark Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Award, and the CDC/ATSDR DEIAB and EEO Workplace Equity Innovation Award. Motivated by the amplification of minoritized communities and the creation of safe spaces, Dr. Helm brings a unique blend of clinical psychology, program development, and business administration to his work. With a process-oriented collaborative approach to problem-solving and a dedication to evidence-based practices, he ensures active listening, goal clarity, and resource management. Dr. Helm is an active member of the American Psychological Association's Div13 Society of Consulting Psychology, Association of Black Psychologist, and contributes to the United States Public Health Commission Corp Psychology Advisory Group. With a doctorate in Personnel Psychology, a master's degree in Organizational & Leadership Development, and executive coaching certification from the University of Georgia, Dr. Helm combines his extensive knowledge and experience to make a meaningful difference in organizations and individuals' lives.
