About Claire Deng

I am an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Ted Rogers School of Management. My teaching interests are in management accounting and sustainability. My educational background includes laws, cultural and religious studies, and accounting. I was trained in and have been conducting both qualitative and quantitative accounting research. My main area of research is qualitative field studies from sociological and philosophical perspectives. My research on the roles that accounting and accountability play in our society ranges from accounting in corporations, accounting for the public interest, to accounting for individuals’ everyday life. My work is interdisciplinary in nature and involves approaches from anthropology, sociology, history, linguistics, and literary theories.
