Background
About Claire Eichorst
My name is Claire Eichorst! I'm currently a Senior at Indiana University Bloomington studying Elementary and Special Education. Two things I value and take into the work place is personal connection and responsibility. I'm very personable and enjoy making connections with all types of people. This is important in any work environment because nothing replaces the value of connecting with other people. This summer I became a Registered Behavior Technician at Behavior Analysis Center for Autism. I provided one-on-one ABA therapy to individuals with autism. To do this job, I had to form connections with the individuals I was providing therapy to in order to build positive rapport. Providing one-on-one therapy for the first time, I had to take responsibility to correctly implement their intervention plan and sometimes that meant relying on my relationships with other staff members when I needed help. This job has taught me a lot about behavior management, building rapport with students and staff, time management, and the importance of taking responsibility for the positive growth of a client or student. At Indiana University, my interest in pursuing Christian values has lead me to become a Core Group Leader for Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship. This is one of my favorite college experiences because of all the people I've been able to meet and build strong, lasting relationships with. The past few years, I've been leading a group of girls in their faith, in relationship with others, and with Christ. This role has also included planning weekly meetings and activities for large groups, encouraging personal devotion, and creating a safe space for growth and unity. This has been a very rewarding experience thanks to the relationships I've been able to build and the personal growth it has given me. Both of these experiences have allowed me to grow in leadership while taking responsibility for whats important and making connections with a variety of people. These experiences and skills will help me be a better teacher.
