About Claire Lloyd

I am a strong advocate for children's literacy- particularly about empowering readers with access to diverse, equitable books. I have a B.A. in English Writing from Wheaton College, am an MFA candidate at Hollins University for Children's Book Writing & Illustration, and have presented both creative and critical writing, as well as artwork, at the Francelia Butler Conference (where I received the Illustrator's Spotlight, Ruth Sanderson, & Margaret Kates Awards). As a former children's librarian, I am skilled in managing digital content, coordinating and implementing community outreach programming, and providing administrative support. I am also writing a nonfiction picture book biography which won the Laura Crawford Memorial Mentorship through the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
