About Claire Simard

Now working at Ottawa Police Service since September 2023 as Administrative Assistant. I have just accepted a new position with the Ministry of the Attorney General as Court Clerk/Registrar. I will continue working as a Court Monitor and will assume the second position as well. Over the years I have worked as a supply teacher, school secretary, constituency assistant for our local MP and most recently as a court reporter. I enjoy being involved in local theatre, fundraising events and I have been known to go out and get prizes for those said fundraising events. I also enjoy walking and being productive in whatever area calls upon me. In 2004, I began working for our local Member of Parliament until 2009. I learned a lot working in that position, as I was helping people when they had issues with CPP, OAS, GIS, CTB, as well as immigration issues. It was a very big learning curve because when I started, my co-worker and I had never worked in that type of office before which means we had to learn everything from scratch. And what a learning curve that was. In 2009 to 2011, I went back to supply teaching in various local schools. I learned to work in the classroom as an aid as well as as a teacher in the special education class which included autistic children. The kids in that class were so loving and wanted nothing more than to learn as long as we were able to teach them their way. What a rewarding experience. In 2011, I started working for the Ministry of the Attorney General as a court reporter. As a court reporter, I get to type everything that goes on in the courtroom. Very interesting to be working in a courthouse. I am still there to this day.
