About Claire Wanjiku

I am passionate about helping professionals to be self-aware and create possibilities for themselves and the people they lead, work and connect with. Since 2012, I have been involved in diverse coaching, coach training and mentor coaching assignments. This propelled me to pursue a number of coaching certifications listed in a different section of my LinkedIn profile. In my exciting coaching journey, I have worked with leaders and individual contributors in such sectors as banking, Insurance, Government, ICT, Investments and Real Estate, Communications, Legal and development/humanitarian, and Social enterprise. As an Associate Director and faculty member for the CDI-Africa Coaching Group (An ICF Accredited Coach Training Institute – East Africa), I have trained and mentor-coached over 200 professional coaches in ICF Global Coaching Diplomas and delivered customized coaching and leadership development engagements. I am well versed in applying the ICF Core Coaching Competencies and in training leaders to use coaching as a leadership tool to enhance trust, culture change, high performance, change management among other aspects. I am trained and accredited to use various personality and leadership assessment tools and over time have successfully deployed them to enhance clients' self-leadership and self-awareness. As a team and group coach, I have used tools like Clarity 4D for team effectiveness interventions. Earlier on in my career, I practiced as an HR/OD Manager and Regional HR Advisor (Horn, East and Central Africa) with Save the Children UK and Oxfam GB. In 2013, I founded Vital Edge Consulting Limited and ventured into HR/OD consulting. I have consulted for organizations such as Oxfam GB, Segal Family Foundation (SFF), Urgent Action Africa - Fund, Helpage International, CARE International, Amnesty International, the public sector among others in the private sector. Looking back at my journey in life, the experience I have gained and the support I have received from people along the way have sparked in me a desire to pay it forward through probono coaching initiatives. In 2019 I participated in the Global ICF IGNITE Project through the local ICF Kenya Chapter and coached several SOS Children's Home Leaders. As part of a team of select Global Coaches, I have offered probono Executive Coaching since 2020 to the Women in Leadership Network under the auspice of the Ethical Coach Global Initiative. I have also coached leaders within Africa through the Humanitarian Coaching Network.
