About Clancy Ross

My journey has taught me the value of innovation in education—of seeking out new ways to create inclusive and engaging opportunities for young people to meet the world and themselves in relation to the world. This starts with the knowledge and professionalism of teachers. I am a supporter of teachers as researchers with activist identities. I believe that when we empower teachers to make educated and informed judgments within their fields and classrooms, we build a more authentic, pragmatic and dynamic vision of professionalism in teaching—one that values educators as catalysts for change. As an early career teacher it can often feel like the more you learn, the less you understand. Although I'm still situating myself within the complex conversation about schooling, I'm deeply grateful for every experience to learn from inspiring teachers and leaders, as each has reinforced my belief in the transformative potential of education. As I continue to grow in my career, I am excited to further explore how we can push boundaries, innovate, and create better opportunities for all students by inspiring the next generation to be thoughtful, informed, and active citizens—in Australia and beyond. This starts with me, my professional values, my goals, and my identity as a social agent striving to support the development of young people.
