I remember when I was still in college, my senior told me “I got into Creative Advertising so ugly ads such as T**i Cheese Cracker’s won’t be allowed to air on TV anymore!”. At that time, I was naive and just nodded my head in agreement that those kinds of ads were unsightly. Enlightenment came to me after I got into my first workplace. I worked closely with great strategists and realized that great marketing and advertising is to know exactly who it is you're trying to reach with your marketing efforts, not something that looks good FOR ME. Egos were put aside. That Cheese Cracker’s ads WORKED for its target. Since then, I have been fascinated with marketing and how advertising could be its extended hands to reach a diverse audience. I love being proven wrong. It is so easy to become set in your ways. To assume that because something has worked for you, it should continue to work. Being wrong keeps me in line and makes me know something that I didn’t know before.
