About Clara Chiu

I am a rising 3L at Harvard Law School. My studies and extracurricular involvements are concentrated on international law, as I aspire to have a career resolving state-to-state disputes while promoting human rights, peace and security, and climate action. I am currently working as a summer associate at Freshfields in New York City. My prior experience includes: conducting legal research in Guam to support self-determination; working at the United Nations International Law Commission in Geneva, Switzerland; researching conflict resolution through the lens of LGBTIQ+ rights and politics in Cyprus through a Fulbright scholarship; co-leading the climate change and disaster risk reduction portfolio (with a particular focus on inclusive approaches to local-level climate adaptation) as Hillary Rodham Clinton Fellow at the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace & Security. I graduated summa cum laude from Georgetown University with a BA in government and an MA in conflict resolution with a certificate in mediation. My academic and professional interests include: international law, international relations, and diplomacy; climate change mitigation, adaptation, and resilience; gender, peace, and security; conflict resolution and peacebuilding; human rights and international development.
