About Clara Knapp

Career oriented, my niche lives between the Information Technology and entertainment media industries. A self proclaimed technophile, I have an innate fascination with technology drives and motivates every aspect of my life. Over the years, I have been involved with a wide variety of professional societies and organizations within and around the RTP, North Carolina area; these experiences include the Raleigh chapter of the Information Systems Security Association, The Raleigh-Durham Extra-Life Guild, The Durham Linux Users Group, The SpiceCorps of Central North Carolina, and Splat Space: Durham's MakerSpace. At Splat Space, a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization in the heart of Durham, North Carolina, I held positions on the board; first as Public Relations, and then subsequently as Vice President. As a self-taught 3D Modelling hobbyist, I volunteered my time, teaching free workshops on the basics of Blender, a free and open source 3D modelling software. I'm passionate about GNU/Linux, and Open Source Software, building proficiency in shell scripting with BASH, PowerShell, SQL, Virtualization, and Networking throughout the course of my career and hobbies. Part of how I maintain my knowledgebase is by attending events and conferences. Southeast Linux Fest ( SELF ), as well as MakerFaire Carolina, Animazement, NC Comicon, The NASA SpaceApps Challenge, and live Extra-Life charity events are among some of these experiences. Life is a complex and ever evolving learning process - these days I always say that I don't have to get everything right, I just have to get everything less wrong; it is in the spirit of continuous improvement that I strive to gain the knowledge and experience I need to carve the path I walk.
