About Clara Loftis

I've always been interested in healthcare and increasing access to healthcare for marginalized groups. My mother has a variety of health issues, so I was exposed to healthcare at a very young age. I remember being fascinated at the doctor's role in improving my mother's life, and how we had to have patient advocates to make sure my mother's voice was being heard. Fast forward several years, I recently returned from a month long internship in Ghana where I was fortunate to try to increase access to medical and dental care in rural communities. As a neuroscience major on the pre-med track, I am interested in the practice of healthcare and the intersection between identity and healthcare access. I've worked various jobs from being a volunteer EMT, psychology research at Middlebury, and being a part of programs to increase my leadership such as BOLD Women's Leadership Network and MiddCORE. However, nothing interests me more than learning about healthcare through the classroom or by gaining firsthand experience. Healthcare is just one of my many passions, but it is the one I am most motivated to pursue professionally. So, take a look at my profile, and let's connect!
