About Clare Duncan

The majority of my career life has been spent with Ross Stores, for good reason. I enjoy the work, from the calming repetition of handling clothes to the frenzied organized mess of hardlines and the satisfaction of a clean floor seconds before the doors open. In recognition of my commitment to the store, I'm one of the few night associates trained in every stocking duty, as well as employee of the month of September 2016. During my third year with Ross, I was accepted into the Visual Communications program at Whatcom Community College. Juggling life as a full-time student, graveyard shift worker, and sole housekeeper ( & cat owner) was an incredible challenge. It brought out qualities and strengths of myself I didn't realize I had, and showed I was far more resilient and adaptive than I ever believed I could be. I pulled through each quarter with high grades and an average GPA of 3.86, earning an Associates in Visual Communications with honors and an internship under my belt. In my down time, I've been pursuing one of my goals of creating a narrative comic. Ultimately, I want to be a storyteller, in whatever form of media I can work with whether its animation, writing, podcasting, or even costume design. Creating a long-form comic will both develop my creative writing and improve my art skills. While building my career in graphic design is my priority, I am hard at work with my first story for a debut in mid-2020.
