About Clare Mayo

I have a passion for the involvement and engagement of local people and communities in the commissioning and co-design of health and social care services. It is my privilege to work alongside lived/ living experience colleagues over the past eight years in the co-design and co-delivery of Salford’s mental health services. Recent work has included the development of a Living Well community mental health offer, supported by the expertise of the national Innovation Unit. I am involved in commissioning, strategic planning and development at a Greater Manchester level, providing commissioning leadership with a specific focus on adult mental health rehabilitation. I have experience of working in the VCSE sector, local government and NHS. With a background in cognitive behavioural therapy and person centred counselling, I have experience of working in 1:1 and group settings with people experiencing common mental health problems. I have worked extensively with people using mental health services and their carers to design and commission inpatient and community mental health services based on their experiences and needs. I am an experienced manager, working with both large and small staff/ volunteer teams. I have lectured at university level and delivered group training to a range of formal and informal groups. My academic education includes an MSc in Primary Care Mental Health, a BSc in Psychology and I am currently undertaking a part time MSc in Art Therapy at the University of Chester. In my spare time, I am often looking to enjoy live music, spend time outdoors or undertaking creative activities.
