About Clare Obrien

I’m a dedicated Cardiac Physiologist who’s built my entire career at Medway NHS Foundation Trust, starting as a student after A levels in 2003 and progressing to Clinical Lead in 2024. Along the way, I completed my BSc in Clinical Physiology and gained BSE and HRUK. Most recently I achieved my Leadership and Management Diploma. Our work as cardiac scientists is vital and patient facing, helping diagnose and manage heart disease, a responsibility I’m passionate about. In leadership, I’ve learnt a great deal about building strong teams and sustainable services, and I’m focused on developing a ‘grow your own’ approach to training the next generation of cardiac scientists. Outside of work, I’m a lifelong swimmer and still compete in the masters section of Medway Artistic Swimming Club…though I’ll always call it synchronised swimming, not artistic!
