About Clarice Decker

Driven. Reliable. Compassionate. During my time at the Graduate School of Public Health, I received a well-rounded education including courses that focused on health promotion and communication as well as epidemiology. Furthermore, I have obtained Certificate in Evaluation of Public Health Promotion and Health Education Programs. I was also awarded the Karen S. Peterson Scholarship for Women's Health and the Rycheck Award. My varied educational background and behavioral and community-focused public health knowledge allow me to bring distinct and thoughtful insights to issues concerning health behavior and decision-making. I have worked on several projects related to education in community settings. As a Co-Director of the Summer Science Outreach Program, I developed a scientific curriculum, coordinated sessions with community partners, and presented interactive educational lectures. As a volunteer at Delaware Helpline, I was part of a team that created a bystander intervention program for sexual assault prevention that I delivered to university students. I also aided in the development of a series of post-injury care classes for families of traumatic brain injury survivors at the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh. In my research assistant position at UPMC Children's Hospital, I worked on a project related to education of underserved youth on topics of masculinity and reproductive health. Through these positions and my time as an evaluator at "Let’s Move Pittsburgh," I have acquired extensive experience in fostering partnerships with community organizations, as well as hard skills such as data entry and management. In my current position at SourcePoint (501c3), I oversee the Community Education Department, which includes Medicare education, caregiver supportive services, falls prevention, and chronic disease self-management for older adults. I also oversee Delaware County's Age-Friendly project, a World Health Organization initiative.
