About Clarissa Folkes

I recently graduated at Stanislaus State University with a B.A. in Child Development, while also minoring in Psychology. After completing the credential program, I plan to pursue a career as an elementary school teacher to help foster children's love of learning. As an elementary school teacher, I believe that the most important impact that I can have on my students is to make learning math fun for them. Incorporating play into my student's mathematic learning experiences is critical to help them increase confidence in their math skills and achieve academic success because during play, research shows that students are more motivated, engaged, and interested in what they are doing. The way I intend on incorporating play into my students everyday mathematic learning experiences is through creating a classroom economy and utilizing math apps that my students can engage in, in a fun hands-on way.
