About Clark Barclay

Clark Barclay, M.F.A. got his start in filmmaking as a summer intern in Hollywood during his freshman year at CSU Chico. After graduating with a BA in Spanish, Clark worked professionally as an audio engineer and producer on music videos, documentaries, and branded content films for companies such as MTV, Ray-Ban, Yours Truly, Adidas, Vimeo, Pitchfork, Oakley, and Reef. After a decade of working in the entertainment industry, Clark decided to redirect his energy toward education and independent filmmaking, so he enrolled in the Writing for Performance Arts MFA program at UC Riverside. As a graduate student at UC Riverside, Clark directed fourteen theatre productions and six short films— including the department film as a mentee of the award-winning cinematographer Dean Cundey, ASC. Clark also worked as a teaching assistant in the Theatre & Film department and taught drama at local elementary and high schools through G.L.U.C.K, an arts outreach program for disadvantaged youth. Clark is a fourth-generation Californian with Cantonese roots in San Francisco's Chinatown and South Side Irish roots in Chicago. Clark identifies as Hapa. When he’s not making films, he produces music and DJs under the alias The Bins. Aside from teaching, Clark is currently working on a young adult fiction novel and freelancing as a screenwriter, script consultant, and composer.
