About Clark Spencer

I lead Fund Management for Grubb Properties, a $1.3bn equity AUM, vertically integrated private equity real estate firm and developer out of Charlotte, NC. I founded Grubb’s Qualified Opportunity Zone program, where we have raised over $550m, and pioneered REIT structuring within the OZ space. Since joining Grubb Properties, I’ve been recognized as a Top 25 Fund Manager by Opportunity Zone Magazine and a Multifamily Real Estate Influencer by Globe Street. I have deep experience in forming capital relationships with Registered Investment Advisors, Family Offices, independent broker/dealers, investment clubs and individual investors, having been an integral member and leader of our sales team’s raising of over $850 million since joining Grubb Properties. I’ve managed teams across the fund management, capital formations and underwriting disciplines of our business, as well as conducting oversight of marketing and existing investor communications. I am a member of our Investment Committee, bringing risk- and data-based analysis and a global capital markets perspective to our investment process. I also serve as a management member of our Audit Committee. Prior to joining Grubb, I spent my career as an attorney in New York City and Charlotte, NC, working primarily in capital markets and public company advisory practices, particularly for public REITs, while gaining additional experience in global finance, M&A, compliance and general corporate practices. I maintain both my New York and North Carolina law licenses. I bring a considered perspective to the real estate portfolios that I manage and raise capital for by combining my depth of experience in large-scale capital transactions and legal compliance with an investor-centric perspective.
