About Claudia Fielding

A soon to be graduate of The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama from the Writing for Performance BA course. I am a freelance playwright and continue to look for jobs in this field and other fields that I have transferable skills for, such as administration and assistant work within venues in London. I am a keen writer of comedy, from monologues and sketches to full-length plays. My debut play ‘Tea Leaves’ had its professional debut in March 2022 at The Courtyard Theatre in Hackney. The play took place over two nights in a series of rehearsed readings. Tea Leaves has recently been longlisted for Masterclass’ Pitch Your Play Competition 2023. Tea Leaves was also within the top 20% of submissions to the Verity Bargate Award 2022 in association with Soho Theatre out of 1300 applicants. It was also shortlisted to the top 30 out of 250 applicants to the Breakthrough: Writers in Residence in association with Traverse Theatre. My monologue 'High on a Rocky Ledge' was included in SLAMinutes at the Arcola Theatre on the 30th of July 2022 and longlisted in Broken Silence Theatre’s ‘Voices from Home’ competition. I performed my five minute monologue 'blurt' at The Hackney Den, as part of Anthroplay's Escape Through Words initiative, on the 24th of November 2022. I also have experience facilitating playwriting workshops with Oldham Theatre Workshop and continues as writer in residence with Theatre of Debate, having already completed a writer in residency programme with East-London based company, Humourisk. I am currently working on a commission with The Theatre of Debate, writing a 30 minute play for teenagers about vaccine hesitancy within minority groups, this involved co-facilitating a workshop day in Batley, Leeds in early 2023. My next full-length play ‘Film: Don’t Recycle’ is intended to have a first draft complete by the end of April 2023.
