About Claudia M. Wright

Claudia Méndez Wright is a professor at the Department of Sociology at Central Washington University. My research interests in migration, motherhood, gender, education, and consumer culture are informed by my experiences in academia and the private industry. As a qualitative researcher I have worked with various rural, urban, and minority communities who have expanded my interest in understanding the ideologies and social constructions that permeate our beliefs and practices. As a business anthropologist, I worked in advertising, market research, and diverse industries, successfully leading initiatives to gather consumer insights. My research has informed numerous campaigns for diverse clients and consumer sectors including recognized brands, services, governmental, and non-profit. My teaching experience includes training students in qualitative methods in my research lab to prepare them for careers as sociologists.
