About Claudia Struzzi

I am an experimental physicist with extensive experience in surface science currently employed as Development Engineer in the Aseptic Technologies department at Tetra Pak packaging Solutions AB. I was awarded by the Belgian Funds for Scientific Research (FNRS) with a fellowship to start my PhD thesis (autumn 2013). My work focused on fluorination of carbon nanostructures (graphene and carbon nanotubes) via plasma and thermal activation for gas sensing detection down to ppm concentration of NO2 and NH3 gases. During the PhD, I gained experience with various experimental characterization techniques (both spectroscopy and microscopy). The PhD thesis was awarded with the “Prix de Chimie appliquée 2018”, a biennial price issued by FNRS for an original study concerning new concepts and applications in the field of industrial chemistry. I worked in two large scale facilities (ELETTRA synchrotron in Italy and MAX IV Laboratory in Sweden) where I contributed to the operation, optimization, maintenance and upgrade of the beamlines (BaDElPh and MAXPEEM) as well as improved both software and data analysis. I provided support to the external users, contributed to the in-house research activities and pursued own research program. In October 2019, I joined the D&E in Tetra Pak where I am the responsible for different experimental equipment and a laboratory area. My duties include planning and performing tests, problem solving (mechanical, software and hardware), big data analysis (in particular VBA and Python), contributing to the development and improvement of the eBeam technology.
