About Claudine Davidson

I have been working as a French translator and reviser for more than 20 years, both in the private and the public sectors as well as on my own as a free lancer. A significant part of my career has been focused on translation and revision from English to French, and has encompassed a wide variety of mediums and materials. As a technical translator in the private sector, I translated revised and localized financial planning software, product documents, training, marketing and administrative materials, as well as the company’s Web site. In my capacity as a revisor, I reviewed translated materials for errors in syntax, wording, grammar, spelling and style. I also created and maintained an official glossary of French terms used by the company’s clients. In the retail and home renovation sectors, my responsibilities included the revision of the translations done by the internal translation team in Québec, as well as those of free lancers from an external service provider. I provided mentorship to new and junior translators and was also responsible for the translation of emergency, legal and marketing documents, and contributed to the creation of several integral documents which described various procedures. In the public sector, I translated a variety of materials for different governmental departments and Crown corporations. In the course of my work, I had to research terminology and document my research, as well as maintain our section’s terminology records. Regardless of the job or project, I’m a conscientious, organized and detail-oriented individual, with a strong commitment to quality in both print and web-based materials. I am not adverse to new technologies and try to learn them quickly. I also have excellent teamwork and communication skills. In everything I do, I try to demonstrate a positive attitude and a sense of humour, which are essential elements in maintaining a good relationship with co-workers and clients.
