About Claus Pelikan

In my PhD I focused on microbial carbon and elemental cycling in temperate coastal sediments and permanently cold Arctic sediments. To answer my research questions I applied a multitude of techniques such as fluorescence in situ hybridization, Raman microspectroscopy, next generation sequencing, stable isotope probing and gene expression analyses. I also obtained a profound training in bioinformatics and biological statistics during my research, which allows me to construct complex data analyses pipelines. Furthermore, I have experience in summarizing, visualizing and publishing my data in peer-reviewed journals. At Zymergen, I used my bioinformatics skills to find never before imagined products.
