I trained at the UKSA maritime college after leaving 5 years at Gordonstoun School. Whilst there, I gained my Yachtmaster offshore as well as instructor tickets in windsurfing, dinghy, and kayaking. I was asked to stay on and work at UKSA as a watersports instructor, teaching kids groups over the summer. Shortly afterwards, I spent a year in Barbados, training clients Level 3 windsurfing, in order for them to gain their instructor qualifications. This was followed by 2 years as a yacht instructor with Sunsail and then 5 years running flotillas for Neilson Active Holidays. The next 15 years were spent at sea, working as Bosun, mate and eventually Officer on private and charter sailing/motor yachts around the globe. I gained my OOW unlimited whilst studying in South Africa and passed my Oral exam at JPMA in Liverpool.
