About Clay Goff

Through my education at UW-Milwaukee I took advanced courses in climatology, soil analysis, Mineralogy, Biology, Environmental Governance, River and Stream Management, storm water infrastructure, GIS (geographic information system), and statistics. Undergraduate project – Created a full plan for implementation of a bio-retention system on UW-Milwaukee’s campus to naturally treat storm water. Used GIS (geographic information system), created a realistic budget, used equations to evaluate the amount of rain that would enter bio-retention as well as the slope of the pipe needed to properly run water down to the bio-retention so gravity did the work rather than pumping the water back up to the proper elevation. A project I am working on the side with my free time is creating a secret compost that is used from invasive lake weeds and seeing the benefits of using it in compost. As I worked for Eco Waterway Services where we would remove tons of invasive lake weeds that would be filled with crustaceans, microorganisms and other important features that work great for decomposing compost piles faster as well as proving high end nutrients for plant growth. This is something I have been discussing to a professor about possibly doing a graduate project on and so far my research as had nothing but positive results! I’ve done various jobs in my life from agronomy, land surveying, cooking, and removal of aquatic invasive species. Always treated each job the same regarding my work ethic. If something needs to be done, I don't ask anyone to do it so I make sure it’s done right. Never lost a job but have only been an asset shown through raises and promotions. I’ve worked with a lot of great people and some not so much, that being said, I always make sure the workspace I am in is non-confrontational but rather productive. I aim to take initiative on all my jobs and responsibilities, as soon as I was old enough to work, I began my own entrepreneurial landscaping company at the age of 13 mowing the vacant lots in my neighborhood and began to create a client base to have constant work on numerous home lawns. I took school seriously and have a passion for learning about anything that pertains to my field of work. I live my life outdoors and love every second of it. Since high school, I have constantly made steps to ensure I would make a positive impact on our natural environments in any way possible.
