Background

About Clay M. Smith

Second year MSEd student at St. Bonaventure University studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I graduated with a BS in Cognitive Science from Marquette University in May of 2022. I am working towards my Licensed Professional Counselor Licensure and a Certified Mental Performance Coach certification. I am passionate about working at the university level, counseling the student population and also student athletes. There are rarely any days that go by that we don’t see an article or a news segment about a student-athlete and the struggles that they face. As a student athlete myself, we face many mental health challenges including high expectations, the balance between being a student and an athlete, the fear of failure, and managing stressors throughout the year. All of these things can drastically impact a student athletes mental health. More than ever, student athletes need a support system to help them address ant mental health concern. I am currently looking for any internship or practicum opportunities to gain clinical hours for both my LPC and CMPC.
